FAQ

1. How much does it cost to study in Canada? Can I apply for a scholarship?

The cost varies greatly depending on the city, school and major. Generally speaking, if you are going to study for a 4-year undergraduate course, you will need to prepare about 4 years of tuition and living expenses, which is about RMB 600,000-1 million. If you study for a 2-year master's program, you will need to prepare RMB 300,000-500,000.

2. After graduating from a Canadian university (i.e. Post-Secondary), how many years of work visa can I get?

For those who have studied in Canada for more than 8 months but less than 2 years, the time allowed for a post-graduation work permit is generally the same as the duration of the program, but graduates of programs of 2 years (or more) can obtain a 3-year work permit. It should be noted that: Under normal circumstances, degree, diploma, and certificate programs of public colleges and universities can apply for a post-graduation work permit, but only degree programs of private colleges are eligible to apply for an open work permit.

3. Does Canada recognize IELTS scores? What are the language requirements for direct admission?

All institutions in Canada accept both TOEFL and IELTS scores. For undergraduate and graduate program applications, either test can be used to meet language requirements. IELTS scores of 6.5 or higher are generally required, though some universities or programs may ask for 7.0 or above. TOEFL scores of 80 or higher are typically required, with some universities or programs requiring 93 or higher.

4. When is the best time to go to Canada to study in high school?

Take Ontario and British Columbia, which have the highest proportion of international students, as an example. According to the requirements of British Columbia, high school students must pass the provincial exam to obtain a diploma. For Chinese students, if they want to study in British Columbia, they must go there at the latest after finishing their first year of high school. Ontario does not have a unified graduation exam. High school graduates apply for university based on their high school grades. International students can transfer to an Ontario high school in any year of high school. However, it is usually recommended to go there after graduating from junior high school, so that students have enough time to adapt to and integrate into Canadian study and life.
